My day was made when I opened my mailbox to find a package from James Luckett. It contained a note and a stack of postcards - some old, some new. Thanks, James!
Seeing the present in the past
As the great organization of my photographic archive (recently dubbed Project FUBAR) continues, I find that I’m constantly stumbling upon images that inadvertently foreshadow conceptual paths I’ve taken since then.
The following is a record of an experiment I conducted in the Rillito River back in May 2011 and promptly forgot about - until now.
Two-year enigma
I took this photograph almost two years ago. I’ve had a proof print hanging on the wall in my studio for nearly as long. There’s something deep inside that tells me this is a really important image in my development as an artist, but in all this time I have yet to determine why.
This is what this spot looks like now.

Florence Quater Gallery - Southwest University of Visual Art
Florence Quater Gallery at Southwest University of Visual Art in Tucson, AZ is currently seeking submissions from contemporary artists for possible inclusion in a group exhibition celebrating alternative photographic methods and processes.
Exhibit Guidelines:
- Artwork is presentation ready w/ appropriate hardware/instructions.
- Artist to provide shipping or delivery to/from the gallery.
- Return shipping label must be included with reusable carton.
- Artist to provide release of liability for artwork while on gallery premises.
- Any sales inquiries will be forwarded directly to the artist.
Submission Checklist:
- 5-10 images, 300 dpi, approximate pixel dimensions 1200.
- Artist Statement
- Resume/CV
- Image List with Title, Date, Materials/Processes, Dimensions/Price

Dates:
- Exhibit dates are March 15, 2013 – April 12, 2013.
- Submissions must be received no later than Thursday, February 21.
- Acceptances will be notified by Monday, February 25.
- Artwork delivery must be received no later than Monday, March 11.
- Artwork return will be processed by Friday, April 11.
